Tom’s sister Colleen and our friend Fritz at the bar at Jabula last night. The three of them had quite a good time yakking all evening while Paulette and I chatted with Dawn and Leon at the other end of the bar.

Fourteen years later, we’re still exploring the world, making memories, meeting wonderful people, experiencing different cultures, and sharing our adventures with readers.

We’ve traveled countless miles, visited amazing destinations, experienced the unexpected, weathered challenges, and discovered that home isn’t necessarily a place. It’s wherever the two of us happen to be.

And now, celebrating this milestone in Marloth Park, surrounded by the wonders of the African bush, with family visiting, seems especially fitting.

Fourteen years. Thousands of photographs. More memories than we could ever count. And an adventure that continues! Thank you to all our readers for sharing this special day, this special year, and these special 14 years with us. We are eternally grateful to all of you, the friends we’ve made along the way, and the friends and family throughout the world who have supported us in our unusual lifestyle.

Last night was another delightful evening in Marloth Park, one of those evenings that reminds us how much we enjoy the social aspects of being here. We headed to Jabula with Colleen and Paulette, who arrived yesterday, and we had such a fun time!

Our lovely niece, Paulette, is Tom’s sister Margie’s daughter. She’s already loving life in the bush!

As always, Jabula felt like coming home. We have spent so many wonderful evenings at this restaurant over the years that it has become much more than a place to enjoy a meal. It’s where we catch up with friends, share stories, laugh, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that makes life in Marloth Park so special to us.

Instead of sitting at a table for dinner, we spent the evening at the bar, with plenty of conversation and laughter. It was wonderful to have Colleen and Paulette with us, giving them the chance to experience one of our favorite local gathering places. We knew they would enjoy the atmosphere, and they certainly seemed to fit right in!

We had a great time talking with Dawn and Leon, who have become such dear friends over the years. Seeing them at Jabula is always a pleasure, and there is never a shortage of things to talk about. Our friend Fritz was also there, adding to the fun and making the evening even more enjoyable. Between catching up, sharing stories, and enjoying everyone’s company, time flew by.

One of the things we love about Jabula is how easily an ordinary evening can turn into something memorable. We may arrive expecting dinner and a few drinks, but before long, we’re chatting with friends, laughing about something that happened, or hearing the latest neighborhood news. There is a wonderful sense of familiarity there, and we appreciate how welcoming everyone has been to us over the years.

Dawn and Leon, owners of Jabula, are dear friends, and we often spend evenings chatting and laughing with them.

For Colleen and Paulette, it was a lovely introduction to one of the places that has become such an important part of our social life in Marloth Park. We want them to experience not only the wildlife and beautiful surroundings but also the friendships and camaraderie that make this little bush community so special.

Tom enjoyed his usual Lion beer, while I had my usual light wine, and we all settled into the evening without any particular rush to get home. After the many appointments, long drives, and medical challenges we’ve dealt with over the past several weeks, it felt especially good to relax and simply enjoy ourselves.

We are looking forward to the next couple of weeks with Colleen and Paulette here. There will undoubtedly be more dinners out, visits with friends, perhaps a pub quiz, and plenty of opportunities to share the wonders of the bush with them.

It’s wonderful to have family here, and last night was a perfect way to begin making new memories together. We couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable first evening!

Be well.
