I waited long enough to change the look of our site. For years, it felt comfortable and familiar, like a well-worn chair that still served its purpose. But as time passed, what once worked seamlessly began to show its age. Apparently, the design is now considered outdated, which makes sense, given that it has been in place for over fourteen years. Technology does not stand still, and neither does the framework that supports a website. As a result, critical security updates from WordPress can no longer be implemented on our current version.

That reality was not easy to accept. The thought of something we have built and nurtured for so long becoming vulnerable is unsettling. Even more concerning is the possibility that failing to update the site could result in a complete crash, one we might not be able to recover from. That alone made the decision for us. It was time.
At the moment, our new web developer, who came on board about six months ago, is hard at work creating a fresh look for the site. He is developing several options, each incorporating design elements that better reflect what we want going forward. This is not simply about making things look modern. It is about ensuring longevity, security, and a smoother experience for everyone who visits.
I will be involved with him every step of the way. That part is important to me. Over the years, our readers have come to expect certain features and a certain ease of navigation on the site. Those details matter. They are part of what has made this space feel consistent and welcoming. My goal is to ensure that everything you have come to rely on remains, in one way or another, even as the overall look evolves.

This process will not happen overnight. In fact, it will be quite painstaking and will likely unfold over the next thirty days. There will be many decisions to make, revisions to review, and small details to consider. It is a bit like renovating a home while still living in it. Care must be taken not to disrupt what already works while improving what no longer does.
During this time, there may be a few days when the site is temporarily unavailable. If that happens, it will not be for long. We will do everything possible to minimize any disruption. Most importantly, we will keep you informed. Whenever we anticipate downtime, we will notify our readers in advance so you are not left wondering what is going on.
Once we go live with the new design, the work will not be finished. There will be background adjustments as we fine-tune various elements. The goal is that you will not even notice these changes taking place. From your perspective, everything should feel smooth and familiar.

What matters most is that viewing new posts will remain as simple as it has always been. If you are a subscriber, you will continue to receive daily posts just as you have in the past. That consistency is something we deeply value and have no intention of changing.
Thank you, truly, for your patience as we move through this transition. It means more than I can say that you continue to be part of this journey with us. We are looking forward to what comes next and to continuing to share our lives and experiences with you for many years to come.
Be well.
