Centre Sismologique Euro-MéditerranéenBelow is listed stats on the earthquakes we’re been experiencing today in Boveglio, Lucca, Tuscany, Northern Italy. Please excuse sketchy editing with our slow Internet connection. Tom and I are hanging out very close to one another with a plan in place where to go as there are additional aftershocks. We’ll keep posting updates of interest Also, earlier today we posted many photos about the nuances of living in a 300 year old house and how we’ve adapted. Little did we know at that time, that we’d experience an earthquake. |

I've been following your blog with great interest. Thank you! I'm curious, what would the house you're renting sell for in Tuscany? I've been there a couple times and never really explored pricing. Can you discuss it in a future post?
Thanks again,
Tim
Tim, having only been here for five days, we really haven't had time to check out the local real estate which we always enjoy. However, I found several excellent web sites with many listings with prices one of which is:
villatua.com/searchresults.htm?action=search&sitesection=property&Type[]=&Area[]=273&minprice=&maxprice=
Once we have a chance to look around I will definitely post some information as we have at our other locations.
Thanks for reading our site and sharing our journey with us!
Warmest regards,
Jess & Tom
Thxs for your response. BTW, I found you via JonathanBailor.com. I'm a fellow low-carber with great success. Must be tough to stick with it in Italy. My Dad's family is from Lucca, so really appreciate the scenery. When you order American coffee, they give you an espresso with a cup of hot water. Have you noticed how most of the Italians around there are slim and normally well dressed? And Tom's white tennis shoes are a little out of place! Definitely an American Tourist. You can spot him from ten miles away. Sorry, but seriously, l'm glued to your posts. Keep it up, and good luck in Africa. Can't wait.
Tim
Tim, what a small world two ways: your Dad's family being from Lucca! And…you're a fellow low carber finding me on Jonathan's site!
Yes, we have noticed the slim Italians. There aren't many fast food restaurants and it appear they eat "real" food as we call it.
We went to a fabulous little restaurant in Benaaggio, 10 minutes from here and chef Allesandro made me a perfect low carb meal. It was heavenly.
We're returning for dinner tomorrow night and I can't wait to have exactly the same meal again. You know how low carbers are, find something we love and we keep eating it.
As for Tom's shoes, yes, he noticed that. He wears the same white tennis shoes everyday hoping they'll wear out so he can toss them to lighten our load, an ongoing challenge.
Actually, we have gotten used to be looking like tourists. After all, I always have a camera in my hand but, not on a strap around my neck.
We love Lucca and all its quaint little towns along the winding road and plan to explore soon. Right now we're so relaxed and happy, enjoying the view from our veranda, we can hardly leave the spot, except today during the earthquakes.
Tomorrow I'll tell the details of our upcoming flight to Kenya that you might get a kick out of and also some of the history about the towns of Lucca which we've been researching. Heavenly, all of it!
Thanks again for writing. Please do anytime. Its a joy to communicate especially while we're so isolated.
BTW, for dinner tonight: shrimp cocktail, prime rib (grass fed), our fabulous homemade SF LC coleslaw, a huge pile of organic green beans and locally made cheeses for dessert. We're having no problem living the LC lifestyle here.
I must write to Jonathan and tell him SANE is easy in Italy with a modest amount of restraint. And the steps in our house and the hills make for excellent HIIT exercise! Its an event walking out to our lawn chairs!!
Warmest regards,
Jess & Tom
